Connect Claude to Icebreakly: the setup, start to finish
This is the practical page. It covers the four steps to connect Claude to the Icebreakly MCP server at https://mcp.icebreakly.com, how to check that it worked, what to do when it did not, and how to remove access. There is nothing to install.

The problem
Most MCP setup guides assume you already know MCP
You do not need to. Connecting Claude to Icebreakly comes down to copying a key and pasting a URL. The parts that trip people up are small: where the key lives, which menu holds custom connectors, and what the authorize page is asking for. This guide walks through each.

How it works
Connecting Claude in four steps, plus a check
In Icebreakly, open Integrations, choose Claude Connector (MCP), press New Key and copy the key
In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and pick Add custom connector from the Add menu
Enter Icebreakly as the name and https://mcp.icebreakly.com as the URL, then press Add
On the Icebreakly authorize page that opens, paste the key and authorize
Back in Claude, ask it to list your campaigns to confirm the tools respond
Before you start
Have three things ready. An Icebreakly account, which can be the free 7-day trial. A Claude account that allows custom connectors. And, if you want Claude to do more than read, at least one LinkedIn account connected inside Icebreakly, since a campaign needs an account to comment from.
You do not need to install software, edit a config file or know what streamable HTTP is. The server speaks that transport, and Claude handles it.
The four steps, with what you should see
Each step has a visible result. If you do not see it, stop there and fix it before going on.
- Step 1, the key. Integrations, then Claude Connector (MCP), then New Key. You should see a new key and the server URL. Copy the key
- Step 2, the connector menu. In Claude: Settings, Connectors, the Add menu at the top right, then Add custom connector. You should see a form with a name field and a URL field
- Step 3, the details. Name: Icebreakly. URL: https://mcp.icebreakly.com. Leave the advanced settings alone and press Add
- Step 4, the handoff. A page on Icebreakly opens and asks for the key. Paste it and authorize. You should land back in Claude with the connector showing as connected
Confirm it works with three harmless prompts
Start with requests that only read. They prove the connection without changing anything.
If all three return real data from your workspace, the setup is done.
- “List my Icebreakly campaigns and how many comments each has posted.” Claude should call get_campaigns
- “Which LinkedIn accounts are connected, and are they healthy?” Claude should call get_linkedin_accounts
- “Show me the comments waiting for my approval.” Claude should call get_pending_comments and include each draft’s touch number
When something goes wrong
Most failures come from one of a short list of causes.
- No tools listed: the authorize step was not finished. Remove the connector and add it again
- Authorization rejected: the key was copied with a character missing, or it has been deleted. Generate a new key
- Tools listed but writes fail: check that a LinkedIn account is connected and valid. Ask Claude to run validate_linkedin_connection
- A campaign will not start: ask Claude why. The diagnose_campaign tool returns the recorded reason and the fix
- Requests slow down under heavy automation: the server allows up to 300 requests a minute
Removing access, and where to go next
To disconnect, delete the key in Icebreakly. Claude loses access at once, and you can remove the connector from Claude’s settings whenever you like. Rotating keys works the same way: create a new one, reconnect, delete the old one.

Common questions about claude mcp integration
How long does the setup take?
A few minutes if you already have an Icebreakly account. You create an API key in Icebreakly, add a custom connector in Claude with the server URL https://mcp.icebreakly.com, and paste the key on the authorize page.
Where do I find the API key?
In Icebreakly under Integrations, in the section called Claude Connector (MCP). Press New Key and copy it. The key is tied to one workspace. Deleting it in the same place cuts off access immediately.
Does it work in Claude Desktop and Claude Code as well as on the web?
Yes. The web and desktop apps use the same custom connector flow. Claude Code takes one terminal command that registers the server with the key as an Authorization bearer header. Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Cline and Zed take the URL and the same header in a config file.
Claude says it cannot see any Icebreakly tools. What should I check?
Check three things. First, that the URL is exactly https://mcp.icebreakly.com with no extra path. Second, that you completed the authorize page and were returned to Claude. Third, that the connector is switched on for the conversation you are in. If the key was deleted or mistyped, create a new one and connect again.
Will Claude post comments without asking me?
Your client asks you to confirm before a tool that posts a comment or a reaction runs. Actions go through the same layer as the Icebreakly dashboard, so the same posting limits and plan caps apply. Claude never sees your LinkedIn password.
Is there a charge for connecting Claude?
No. MCP access is included in every Icebreakly plan. You need your own Claude account, and the usual plan limits on monitored leads and LinkedIn accounts apply.
