Sequencer vs sequencer

Expandi vs HeyReach: count your LinkedIn accounts before you compare features

Expandi and HeyReach both send connection requests and follow-up messages from the cloud. They part ways on the unit of work. Expandi treats each LinkedIn account as its own carefully tuned sender. HeyReach treats your accounts as a pool and spreads one campaign across all of them. Settle how many accounts you will be running a year from now, and most of this choice makes itself.

Written by the Icebreakly team. We sell neither of these tools. Vendor details were checked against each company’s own site in October 2026.

The short answer

If you run one to three accounts and care about what each sequence can do, Expandi gives you the richer builder, an automatic warm-up for new accounts and email steps in the same flow. If you run a sales floor or a client roster, HeyReach rotates sending across every connected account, collects all replies in one inbox and sells flat plans that cover a block of senders. Both are sequencers for cold outreach. If people ignore you because they have never heard of you, read the last section before you buy either.

Expandi and HeyReach, line by line

Start with what they share, because it is a lot. Both are cloud tools, so nothing runs on your laptop. Both send connection requests, messages and InMail, and both can add a profile view or a post like ahead of the invite. Both work under the same LinkedIn ceiling of around a hundred invites a week per account, whatever a sales page implies. The rows below are about how each product organizes that work.

The points where the two products differ in ways you would notice inside the first month.

What each one is better at

Neither product is a weaker copy of the other. They were designed for different operators, and each has ground the other does not cover as well.

Expandi’s strengths

A cloud sequencer that puts its effort into each individual LinkedIn account.

Suits: A rep, founder or small team with one to three accounts and a taste for building detailed flows.

A builder that reacts to what the prospect does

Expandi’s drag-and-drop canvas offers a long menu of actions with conditions between them. Accepted the invite or not. Opened the email or not. Replied or stayed quiet. Every answer can route the lead down a different branch. HeyReach has branching too, with a leaner set of conditions, so people who enjoy designing a flow step by step tend to end up here.

New accounts are ramped for you

Expandi advertises an automatic profile warm-up that raises daily activity gradually, with limit ranges you can adjust. Each account also gets a dedicated country-based IP address. For a profile that has never been automated, having the ramp handled is one less thing to get wrong. HeyReach also assigns every account its own residential IP, but it leaves the ramp-up to you.

LinkedIn and email in the same flow

You can connect a mailbox and drop email steps between LinkedIn steps, so a lead who ignores the invite gets a follow-up by email without leaving the campaign. HeyReach stays on LinkedIn and hands email to a partner tool.

Personalized images and GIFs

Expandi can insert the prospect’s name or details into an image or GIF. It is a paid extra, and it suits teams whose messages lean on a visual hook.

One plan with everything in it

There is no ladder of tiers to climb. The builder, the inbox with labels and notes, webhooks and roles all come with the single self-serve plan.

HeyReach’s strengths

A cloud platform that treats many LinkedIn accounts as one sending pool.

Suits: Agencies and sales teams with five or more accounts and somebody whose job is to run them.

One campaign, spread over every sender

You load a list once and HeyReach rotates the sending across all connected accounts automatically. Nobody has to split a spreadsheet into ten pieces or check which rep already contacted whom. Expandi runs campaigns account by account.

A single inbox for all accounts

Replies from every connected profile arrive in one place. A manager can read and answer on behalf of twenty accounts without logging in and out of LinkedIn twenty times.

Flat plans made for agencies

The Agency and Unlimited plans charge one monthly fee for a set number of senders and include white-label branding and separate client workspaces. Expandi offers white-labeling and an agency quote as well. The difference is that HeyReach publishes the flat plans and built the product around them.

Open to the rest of your stack

HeyReach exposes an API, webhooks and an MCP server, and lists connections to HubSpot, Clay, Instantly, Smartlead, Zapier, Make and n8n. A revenue-operations person can wire it into an existing pipeline instead of working around it.

How the two bills are shaped

Expandi sells one self-serve plan, priced per seat, where a seat is one LinkedIn account. Paying yearly brings it down, and from about ten seats you move to a custom agency quote that gets cheaper per account as you add more. HeyReach comes in three shapes. Growth is charged per sender. Agency is a flat monthly fee covering a set block of senders. Unlimited is a bigger flat fee with a high cap. For a single account the two sit in the same price band, with HeyReach a little lower at the time of writing. The picture shifts as you fill a HeyReach block: the fee stays put while the cost per account keeps falling. Work out the bill for the account count you expect in twelve months, not the one you have today, and confirm the figures on each vendor’s pricing page.

Expandi

One self-serve plan, billed per seat (a seat is one LinkedIn account). Discount for paying yearly. Custom agency quote from roughly ten seats. 7-day trial.

HeyReach

Per sender on the Growth plan. A flat monthly fee for a block of senders on Agency. A larger flat plan above that. 14-day trial.

Begin with the number of accounts, then check the exceptions.

Expandi is the right call when

You run one, two or three LinkedIn accounts and expect that to stay true. You want to shape the sequence yourself, with separate paths for accepted, ignored, opened and replied. The account you are connecting is fairly new and you would rather have its ramp-up managed. You want email steps inside the same flow instead of a second tool.

HeyReach is the right call when

You already run five or more accounts, or you will within the year. Your reps lose time switching profiles to read replies. You sell outreach to clients and need separate workspaces under your own brand. Your operations person wants an API, webhooks or MCP to tie campaigns to Clay, a CRM or an email sender.

Icebreakly is worth a look when

Your invites go out on schedule and still get ignored, because nobody on the list knows who you are. Icebreakly sends nothing. It comments on your chosen leads’ posts in your voice until your name is familiar. It is not a substitute for either tool’s sending features.

A different kind of tool

Both of them message strangers. One option does not message at all.

Expandi and HeyReach compete on how well they deliver an invite. Neither changes who it comes from. To the VP on the receiving end you are a name she has never seen, and a tidier sequence or a tenth sender does not alter that.

Icebreakly works on that one problem. You add the people you want to win by profile URL. When one of them posts, it drafts a comment in your voice, and you approve it or let Autopilot post within your guardrails. Picture that VP announcing a launch on Monday, with your comment under it by Tuesday. A tracker counts the touches: about five makes you familiar, about twelve trusted. An invite from a name she has seen under six of her posts gets a different reception.

It sends no connection requests, DMs, InMail or email, and it has no sequence builder or inbox, so it does not replace Expandi or HeyReach. Some teams run both: comments first for the hundred accounts that matter most, then the invite once a lead is warm. If your plan is volume across thousands of names, buy the sequencer.

Expandi vs HeyReach: what buyers ask

Is HeyReach cheaper than Expandi?

It depends on how many LinkedIn accounts you connect. For one account the two sit in a similar price band, with HeyReach’s per-sender plan slightly lower at the time of writing. HeyReach also sells flat plans that cover a block of senders for one monthly fee, so the cost per account falls as you fill the block. Expandi offers custom agency pricing from around ten seats. Check both pricing pages for current figures before you decide.

Can Expandi manage several LinkedIn accounts?

Yes. Each LinkedIn account is a seat, and Expandi offers roles, permissions, white-labeling and an agency plan for teams with many seats. What it is not centered on is pooling: every account runs its own campaigns. HeyReach is designed so that one campaign rotates across all connected senders and the replies arrive in one inbox.

Which one is safer for a brand-new LinkedIn account?

Expandi has the edge here because it ramps activity automatically with a built-in warm-up. HeyReach asks you to raise volumes by hand over the first weeks. Both give every account a dedicated IP address, and HeyReach’s rotation keeps the load on any one account low. Neither removes the risk. LinkedIn’s terms do not permit third-party automation, and how hard you push an account matters more than which tool does the pushing.

Do Expandi and HeyReach send email as well as LinkedIn messages?

Expandi lets you connect a mailbox and place email steps in the same sequence as LinkedIn steps. HeyReach concentrates on LinkedIn and connects to dedicated email senders such as Instantly and Smartlead, so email runs in that tool while HeyReach handles the LinkedIn side.

Which has white-label for agencies?

Both. HeyReach includes white-label branding and separate client workspaces on its Agency and Unlimited plans. Expandi lists white-labeling as a feature and quotes agency pricing for larger seat counts. Ask each vendor what is included at your size, because the details differ by plan.

How hard is it to move from Expandi to HeyReach, or back?

Set aside an afternoon. Pause the running campaigns first so nobody receives the same message from two tools. Export your leads, import them into the new tool, rebuild the steps and reconnect each LinkedIn account. Past conversations live in LinkedIn itself, so earlier threads stay visible there whichever tool you use.

I am a solo founder. Is HeyReach too much?

Probably. HeyReach’s main advantages (rotation, a shared inbox, client workspaces) only show up once several accounts are connected. A founder with one account gets more from Expandi’s builder, or from a lighter tool such as Waalaxy or Dripify. If your list is short and the deals are large, it is also worth asking whether a sequencer is what you need at all.

Can I try Expandi and HeyReach before paying?

Yes. Expandi offers a 7-day free trial of its plan. HeyReach offers a 14-day trial on its standard plans, and says a 30-day trial can be requested for the larger Agency and Unlimited plans. Running both trials on the same small list for a week is the quickest way to feel the difference between a per-account tool and a pooled one.

Do Expandi and HeyReach support InMail?

Both do. Expandi includes InMail among its sequence actions, next to connection requests, messages and email. HeyReach has a Send InMail step and a condition that checks whether a profile is open, so open profiles can be routed down their own branch. LinkedIn’s usual InMail credit rules apply in either tool.

Does either tool help prospects recognize me before I message them?

Only lightly. Both can add small steps such as a profile view or a like on a recent post before the invite, but their purpose is to deliver the message. If recognition is the goal, a comment tool is the closer fit. Icebreakly, for example, watches the leads you choose and comments on their new posts in your voice over several weeks. It does not send invites or messages, so teams that want both usually run it alongside a sequencer.

If you are not sure a sequencer is the missing piece

Put ten of your most wanted accounts into Icebreakly for a week. You will see a draft comment for every post they publish, and you approve each one. If being recognized changes how those ten respond, you have your answer before you sign a sequencer contract.
